Our friend Hoon {from Korea} really wanted to cook his favorite Korean dish for us, since he lives in the dorms we invited him to cook it at our place. Maybe that was a bad idea.
It turned into quite the night.
He brought over this little propane grill, but forgot the propane. So we suggested for him to just cook it on our stove. This dish is similar to a lettuce wrap; only inside is this type of thick bacon, Kim Chee, cucumber, garlic, red chile paste & rice.
The biggest tub of Kim Chee we've ever seen!
The grease from the 'bacon' slipped down & on to the burner, causing little fires, but they would just burn themselves out...that is until this one just would not go out. The dark smoke from the little fires filled our apartment with thick smoke & it just keep getting worse. Jason kept saying, "whatever you do, don't put water on it!" Well, someone put a few drops of water on it and it turned into quite the mess! I couldn't handle the smoke so I walked outside to get some fresh air. Apparently the fire got pretty bad cause Jason quickly followed me out the door, pulled the fire extinguisher out of the wall & ran back inside. What an adventure. Our kitchen was a disaster! But thankfully our apartment is still in one piece!
During it all, Hoon was concerned about still cooking up his 'bacon' & enjoying the dish. (And I was snapping pictures. Ha Ha.)
It was quite the Korean BBQ.
Jason is in there, behind all that smoke.
(This happened the weekend prior to the flood-sorry for them being out of order, Im trying to update our blog with all that has happened.)
