Another Year....

And so another Birthday! Jason turned a quarter of a century on June 30th!

We don't have a car out here in Hawaii, so we rented one for the weekend to venture out past our little town of Laie. The Saturday before his birthday we went spearfishing at a spot just north of Turtle Bay with some friends; Troy Ryan, Nick & Tara Holladay, and Trevor & Lauren. Everyone that went out had a 'little something' they brought back in with them. The path to go snorkeling. (Also a horse trail.)

The snorkel spot, just past the reef. Turtle Bay Resort is that building there in the back ground.

Jasons catch of the day. Looks more like an aquarium fish then one you'd eat huh? Poor little guy.

The Fish of the Day.

On Monday, the 30th, we decided we'd FINALLY hike Chinamans Hat. I say finally because as long as we've lived here NONE of us had ever done it-theres a good reason...we've heard numerous times that hammerhead sharks breed there, which has been a good enough reason for us to 'keep out of the water'. Well, we (Jason, Trevor & I) sucked it up and decided to snorkel out to the little island; we hiked to the top and wow! What a view! It was gorgeous! The water looked crystal clear, the sun was shinning, and the mountain range was as green as could be. It was perfect. After Chinamans Hat, we went to lunch at El Maricachi in Kaneohe, it's a delicious Mexican food place we were introduced to by some friends. Chinamans Hat.

After the adventure.

Lunch Time!

Jason has been wanting a speargun for a while now, so for a gift I decided to do some research and get him one. I hadn't bought it yet when the week before his birthday he called me from ACE hardware here in Laie and said, "they have spearguns for 1/2 off, can I get one?!" Of course I couldn't say no (especially since it was 1/2 off . ha. ha.) ---Trevor was with him and also begged his wife for one too, (signing a contract that he wouldn't ask for a birthday present, Christmas present and that he'd do the dishes for a month) his wife gave in too----Needless to say those two got spearguns for their birthdays. The guns had to be fixed a certain way in order to use them, so after lunch at El Mariachi they went to friends house and he got them all set up. After they were good to go, he took us all spearfishing up at Laie Point. (We were a bit nervous because there have been shark sightings out there too.) That afternoon, the water was as calm as could be and not a shark in site! Thank Heavens! We all spearfished until just after sunset then headed home to get ready to got to dinner. We met up with some friends at Haliewa Eats-an amazing Thai food resturant in Haliewa. Afterwhich we headed to Mililani for a movie, "Get Smart", which was actually pretty funny. And to top the evening off, we ran into Wal-mart for a few things then headed home to Laie. It was a great day. And hopefully a good birthday. The Weapons. Aka-their birthday presents.

At Laie Point, getting ready to head out spearfishing with their new guns. (Joe Whitford, Walter Aitu, the mastermind behind spear fishing, Trevor and Jason)

After dinner at Haleiwa Eats with Trevor, and Nick & Tara Holladay
(poor Lauren was sick all day).

On the way into the movies.

Dinner a few nights later with just Jason and I and all his favorites--
Shrimp, Steak, Twice Baked Potatoes & Aspargus....

And Strawberry Cheesecake for dessert!

Happy 25th Jason!
